During the cultural city walk, where you will see the most important sites of this charming little colourful town located next to the UNESCO Ilulissat Icefjord.

Possibility for additional optional Northern lights tour in the evening.

Day 2 |  Encounter Greenland’s most important animal – the Husky dogs

Dog sled tour (2 hrs).

The dog sledge is one of the strongest icons of Greenland. An Inuit tradition, dating 2000 years back in time! You will not find many other means of transportation, which has survived for so long without any changes. The basic principle is still the same as in the Viking age; some dogs tied to a simple construction of wood. The experience cannot be explained – you have to try it.

Ilulissat is the biggest sledge district in Greenland and offers many great dog sledge experiences. The sledge dog driver may take you towards “Brede bugt” where you can enjoy the view of the Disko Bay. He might even take you onto the sea ice if this is thick enough. Another route goes into the hinterland, towards a viewpoint of the Icefjord, but before getting there, you have to go over “little Akinnaq” a hill top, that is not really that small. This only makes it more fun, when you have to go down it again!

Arctic jacket, trousers and boots can be rented for the tour if needed.

It is not guaranteed that the sledge driver will speak English. However, with good body and sign language, it is easy to communicate with each other.

Day 3 |  Day at leisure in Ilulissat

Free time to explore Ilulissat on your own or possibility for an optional tour, such as another dogsled ride, boat tour among the icebergs or a hike to the nearby settlement.

Day 4 |  Departure

Free morning in Ilulissat and a chance for one last look around the town before you are transported to the airport. Departure to Reykjavík, arriving to Iceland early evening.
