This tour offers incredible photography opportunities—from beluga whales and polar bears to sweeping prairie landscapes and forest wildlife. Our guides are knowledgeable and patient, giving you the time and space to capture unforgettable moments, whether you're using a phone or a DSLR.
Physical Activity
This trip includes light to moderate physical activity, such as walking on uneven ground, getting on and off boats or vehicles, and optional short hikes. Most activities are suitable for guests with a basic level of mobility.

Overview
Experience the spectacular wildlife of Manitoba with an adventure from the expansive forests and grasslands of Riding Mountain National Park, to the colourful tundra of Churchill. This one-of-a-kind Big Five Safari is a salute to the incredible array of megafauna that populate the forests, prairies, tundra and waters of this beautiful province.
Your journey begins in Winnipeg, the geographic centre of North America. Travel overland to Riding Mountain National Park where the boreal forest, meadows and lakes, lofty heights and deep gorges of the Manitoba Escarpment are home to moose, black bears, a captive bison herd and more.
Enjoy daily wildlife drives to photograph the amazing wildlife and landscapes of the area. Next, fly north to Churchill, where the boreal forest gives way to the rugged tundra and northern waterways. Set out by boat and Zodiac amongst inquisitive beluga whales and explore the Churchill Wildlife Management Area in search of the majestic polar bear.
Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 | Welcome to Winnipeg
Guests will arrive in Winnipeg and check into their hotel at the Winnipeg airport; Winnipeg city tour; Welcome reception hosted a by Frontiers North Interpretive Guide.
Overnight at Winnipeg hotel.
Day 2 | Start your journey at Riding Mountain National Park
Morning bus transfer to Riding Mountain National Park; Stop at Farmery Estate Brewery; Evening wildlife drive.
Enter Riding Mountain National Park through the historic East Gate, marking the start of your adventure in this scenic wilderness. Visit Farmery Estate Brewery in Neepawa for a brewery tour and lunch at their delicious on-site food truck.
In the evening explore the bold boreal forest and deep gorges of Riding Mountain National Park on wildlife safaris in search of black bear, moose, bison and other incredible wildlife.

Day 3 | Wildlife viewing and interpretive hike
Morning wildlife drive; Parks Canada Interpretive Walk; Interpretive Hike; Outdoor dining experience;
As you drive throughout Riding Mountain National park look for species such as moose, black bear, lynx, great grey owl, wolves, coyotes, bison, and more. Riding Mountain National Park features a diverse array of habitats, including boreal forests, meadows, lakes, and the lofty heights and deep gorges of the Manitoba Escarpment. Learn about the significance of bison in the Riding Mountain area, their near-extinction and their reintroduction to the park in the 1940s at the Lake Audy Bison Enclosure.

Day 4 | Last wildlife safari in Riding Mountain National Park
Morning wildlife drive; Turtle Island Cultural Experience; Drive to Winnipeg.

Day 5 | Churchill adventure begins
Morning flight to Churchill, Manitoba the Beluga whale capital of the world! Enjoy a guided bus tour of local and historical points of interest surrounding Churchill including the polar bear holding facility and Inukshuk.
Enjoy a guided interpretive tour of Cape Merry National Historic Site with Parks Canada. Learn about this history of this 1744 battery and its role in protecting the fur trade.
Enjoy and evening presentation from a local Indigenous Churchill resident about the culture, history, wildlife, and/or lifestyle of Churchill.

Day 6 | Beluga whales and Dog Carting
Beluga whale viewing in a Zodiac in the Churchill River Estuary; Itsanitaq Museum; Dog Carting and Interpretive Program.

Day 7 | Prince of Wales Fort and Beluga whales
Walk back in time at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre viewing detailed and exciting wildlife dioramas and fur trade exhibits. Leave chock-full of natural and historical information about the Churchill region.
On a Transport Canada approved vessel, discover hundreds of Beluga whales in the Churchill River. Then make your way across the river to the Prince of Wales Fort.
Hear from a Polar Bears International representative and tour the centre to learn about polar bear research and climate change. Then enjoy a guided walking tour of the Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. Learn about its establishment by the Hudson's Bay Company and its role as a fur trade outpost.

Day 8 | Last day in Churchill and Tundra Buggy® Adventure
Tundra Buggy® Adventure in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area; Evening flight to Winnipeg;.
